Remix 100
This little print is on its way to Perth now to become part of the Remix 100 project. I am not too sure how this came about i.e., the exhibition of the little prints housed in CD boxes, but I am pretty sure that Su Grierson or Perth Visual Arts Forum will have had a fair amount to do with it as I get the impression that this is a lady who likes to get things done once she sets her mind to it.
I popped this print in a CD case, in a "Jiffy' bag(envelope) into the postbox at about 11.30 this morning. It's probably in a sorting office somewhere now - actually I think it will be Edinburgh.
Apparently this exhibition is next going to be shown in China. That will be about the fifth time I have shown there. First time was through the Irish exhibition of works by James Ryan at his gallery there in China - this was called "6x6". I will post the images I showed in those two exhibitions sometime here on the blog.
Belated Happy Birthday to me !!!
This amusing card was sent to me by my dear friend Linda H., we have been friends for ages. Speaking of which --I just can't believe it but I have reached the age of 50. Inside of myself I guess I feel the same as I did ten years ago or something like that but what with all the health problems I have I guess I have been feeling like I am 90 since my mid thirties which is when my "scoliosis " became far too assertive for my liking. Anyway I just love this card. Linda has sent me some lovely ones over the years.. I keep them all.
Eimearjean Mc Cormack
Came across this Irish artists work on a website called Canvas ie.
I like her way of working, for example this is a mono print on silkscreen. Perhaps it's a trace monotype. Or maybe it has been collaged onto the surface of the screenprint. I can see no reason not to proceed thus as I am not a "purist" where printmaking is concerned.
I think that there are so many people making prints with landscape scenes or still life type images or heaven forbid nudes.....zzzzz.......... oh it gets so boring.
Anyway I like the simplicity and essential nature of this work.
Speaking of playing about with how one makes works using printmaking techniques, on Thursday and Friday of this week I went to the print workshop to make some small print works for a project and these involved me using hard ground plates on top of chine colle digital images on Japanese paper as well as the usual chine colle coloured papers which I purchased over a year ago at Falkiners in London.
